Screen (Excerpt 1)

Bruce Lee's posthumous, yet growing, popularity in Japan resulted in a number of haphazard attempts to capitalize on it in the absence of any new Lee films. The March 1976 issue of Screen magazine offers an informative snapshot of these attempts: in addition to listing theatrical rereleases (a double feature of Enter the Dragon and Fist of Fury screened at Hato Meigaza in Aoyama, for example), this issue featured Lee's inclusion in a list of influential, and otherwise entirely Western, foreign stars from 1946-1976, as well as his photograph as part of the magazine's subscription advertisement.
